Tess Rechtweg

My name is Tess Rechtweg, and I am from right outside of New York City. You may have formerly seen my work on my school newspaper, Horizon, or on my Youtube channel that I started in the seventh grade. From the age of maybe six or seven, I knew I wanted to be immersed into the arts. I had a love of musical theater, film, photography, music and the arts. I can’t really sing so my young dreams of becoming an actress slowly faded. My parents signed me up for classes in fine art, which I have now taken for ten years. In the sixth grade I had an urge to become a filmmaker. As soon as they found out, my parents signed me up for Usdan Summer Camp for the Art (formerly Usdan Center for the Performing and Fine Arts) where I studied filmmaking for three summers, and photography for one summer. I also participated in New York University’s Tisch Summer Filmmaker’s Workshop in June 2020. These shaped my love for film, and photography, and showed me what I wanted to be when I grow up.

I am currently studying Film and Television at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025. I am planning on doubling majoring in Business Administration or Psychology.
